Business Health & Safety Improvements

Our client’s logistics and distribution facilities operated out of two separate sites on opposite sides of a public road, with an additional facility under construction at the time of our engagement. Business operational requirements resulted in regular vehicular and pedestrian movements between the separate sites, including regular movements by goods vehicles of all sizes and forklift trucks across the public road. This gave rise to safety concerns due to conflict between these vehicular and pedestrian movements and through traffic on the public road. In addition, the presence of on-street parking on the road served to limit inter-visibility between through traffic and vehicles and pedestrians accessing our clients’ premises.

TPC provided traffic engineering and traffic management expertise to develop a Traffic and Pedestrian Facilities Management Plan, based on a review of on-site video monitoring surveys. Key recommendations included a network of demarcated footways within the two sites and a suitable pedestrian facility across the public road.
